How It Works
Daily Groups
Each day you'll be with a new group of 3-4 people, including at least 1 singer and 1 producer.
Industry Briefs
Music industry briefs provided to guide your writing, though you're free to write whatever your group wants.
Flexible Deadlines
No finished master needed by end of day - a quick voicenote works. Singer records vocals later, producer finishes production.
Group Scheduling
Groups and briefs announced via email the day before. Start times based on timezones, adjustable by the group.
Video Sessions
Sessions run on Google Meet (free, no time limits). Use Google Docs for collaborative lyric writing.
File Sharing
Use email threads, Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer. WhatsApp recommended for quick voicenotes.
A&R Support
I'll drop into sessions for 5-10 mins offering advice. Email info@signalrecords.co.uk if you get stuck.
Feedback & Pitching
After camp, I'll provide A&R feedback videos. Finished tracks get pitched to brief-owners and industry contacts.
Song Splits Guidelines
Writers jointly own work created in sessions. Split sheets aren't mandatory but recommended - especially when splits aren't even.
Publishing
Any song written is owned in equal split between contributors in the session. This can be changed if all contributors agree.
Master
Singer owns their vocal performance (unedited/unmixed files). Producer owns the master and all stems of their version. If a writer contributes a guitar part or backing vocal, they own that performance.
